A blog about my journey and experiences with Adenoid Cystic Carcinoma
I decided to start this blog after being diagnosed with ACC. I tried to get as much information as possible, but it felt like jumping into the middle of the ocean. An ocean full of cancer stories filled with the same phrases, too much statistics and too many definitions. I didn't need information from researchers or doctors, I needed someone that knew what I was going through. I hope that my blog will be that for someone just diagnosed with ACC.
My name is Tanya, I am a South African female born in 1987. I do not smoke and have never been overweight. I am not particularly active, I have always considered myself more of a reader than a runner, but have always strived to live a well balanced life with particular emphasis on nutrition.
I'm a proud owner of an honours degree in Environmental Management. I have an office job and live in a small town in North-West Province.
Nothing out of the ordinary... Right?
Four months post-radiation I went for my first scan after my tumor was removed. The results were clean!
Eight months post-radiation I went for a checkup again, this time the doctor only inspected my glands to feel for abnormalities. He felt nothing.
I planted a tree in celebration of the year that has passed.
